It's time for our March get-together, so come on out to Waverider's
Coffee and Deli at their new place in Nags Head! Owner Bobbie Stager is
very happy to have us at the new and larger location at 3022 South
Croatan Highway (MP 11 1/4) at the Pirate's Quay shopping center.
Waverider's
still has their awesome sandwich/wrap menu, as well as a nice selection
of muffins and pastries. In addition to the coffee drinks, sodas, and
juices, etc., they're now offering draft and bottled beers (domestic and
imported), as well as wines by the bottle and the glass. Check out
their web site at www.waveriderscoffeeanddeli.com for selections.
As
part of the Virginia Coastal Energy Research Consortium activities, ODU
has established an algal farm in the Hopewell, VA area to evaluate the
economic potential for growing, harvesting, and converting the algae to
commercial fuels (biodiesel and hydrocarbon fuels). Learn about a new
reactor that takes advantage of ODU's patented process for producing
FAME biodiesel from algae in a one-step thermochemical approach.
Additional
lab studies show that another component of the harvested algae can be
converted to other petroleum-like products that can be refined to
transportation fuels. An interesting -- and timely -- topic! Hope to
see you all at Waverider’s on Wednesday, March 11!
I know that
some of you may think that RSVPing is not important, but it is, so
please drop me an email if you're coming! Bobbie would appreciate
knowing how many people to expect so she can plan her staffing. Please
RSVP by sending an email to obxgreendrinks@gmail.com so we know how many people will be joining us.
