January Monthly Mingle

Happy New Year to you all!

Waverider's Coffee and Deli has moved to their new location in Nags Head! Owner Bobbie Stager is very happy to have us at the new and larger location at 3022 South Croatan Highway (MP 11) at the Pirate's Quay shopping center.

They still have their awesome sandwich/wrap menu, as well as a nice selection of muffins and pastries -- and coffee drinks! Check out their web site at www.waveriderscoffeeanddeli.com. Waverider's has coffee drinks, sodas, juices, etc. and Bobbie says that it's no problem if we bring our own adult beverages, so bring beer and wine (and a wine glass) if you want to do so.

Everyone enjoys seeing dolphins around the Outer Banks, in the sounds and in the ocean. But, how much do we know about them? What do they do, where do they go, and do they hang out with other dolphins?

Learn more about the travels of dolphins along the East Coast, with particular emphasis on dolphins that move between the Outer Banks and the Crystal Coast (Carteret County: Beaufort and Atlantic Beach) with Jess Taylor, President and Principal Investigator for the Outer Banks Center for Dolphin Research. She will discuss how her research supports the Mid-Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphin Catalog.

By working together, researchers gain a better understanding of bottlenose dolphin stock structure and movement patterns along the East Coast. These data will also help scientists discover how dolphin populations were affected by the morbillivirus epidemic in 2013.
