May 2018 - Fire and Life – Helping Mother Nature by Prescribed Burn

Guest Speaker: CB Plante - ZFMO, District 1 - USFWS-Alligator River NWR

Mr. Plante will join us to discuss the reasons prescribed burning of forest lands is performed. He will give us insight on why sites are chosen, how the fires are scheduled and how they are controlled. He will also share the history and research behind these intentionally set, professionally managed fires and why they are important to the ecosystem and beneficial to humankind.
