Happy November to you all! The holidays will be upon us before we know it!
Please join us on Wednesday, November 13 for an informative talk about sea turtle and marine mammal stranding response along the Outer Banks, or as our guest speaker likes to refer to her responsibilities: "Hey, there's a dead thing on the beach; let's call KC and see what we can find out about it!"
Most people who have spent any amount of time on the beach
around here have probably experienced it at one time or another. You’re
walking along innocently enough when the distinctive odoriferous waft of dead
stuff finds you downwind. Before long you stumble across a dead sea
turtle or dolphin on the beach, or even perhaps a large pile of whale.
Then an oddly excited team descends taking measurements and samples but did you
ever wonder what exactly they’re looking for or finding?
Karen Clark of the NC
Wildlife Resources Commission will be joining for Green Drinks this month to share her
experiences with the darker, stinkier side of beach finds - though she promises
she might throw in an uplifting story of rescue, rehabilitation,
and release if the mood calls for it.
Please RSVP by sending an email to obxgreendrinks@gmail.com so we know how many people will be joining us. See you Wednesday evening!
