Our Outer Banks sea turtle rescue group, the Network for Endangered Sea Turtles or NEST, has been working to save sea turtles here since 1995. Millie Overman, our guest speaker, was instrumental in getting this group together. NEST volunteers patrol for sea turtle crawls during nesting season, protect nests and help hatchlings, and work cooperatively with the NC Aquarium to rehabilitate and release cold-stunned or wounded sea turtles.
